Calne headteacher Dr Helen Wright discussed her views in support of working mums on a national television debate at the weekend.
Dr Wright hit the headlines this year after the Gazette and Herald revealed that she returned to work seven hours after having her third child, Jessica.
She appeared on a new BBC1 topical show Sunday Morning Live, in a debate called Do Working Mothers Make Worse Mothers.
She was seen in a short film recorded at St Mary’s School in Calne, talking about her experiences as a working mum, appearing live by webcam.
A school spokesman said: “Dr Wright expressed her view that whether to work or not is a matter for the individual but strongly refuted suggestions that working mums made worse mums.
“At the time, Dr Wright told the press that it was her individual choice to return to work as her unique situation as head of a leading girls’ boarding school meant her personal life and her work were inextricably linked and she was able to take Jessica into school with her.”
She was quizzed by Sunday Live host Susanna Reid and studio panelists, former Labour Minister Kim Howells, Refuge founder Erin Pizzey and Hindu community leader Kiran Bali.
