Volunteers from all walks of life have put the finishing touches to a garden in Devizes for people with dementia.
The outside space at Alzheimer’s Support day club in Sidmouth Street was mostly concrete and mud when the club started up 18 months ago.
Now, thanks to donations of plants, time and money, it has been transformed into an oasis of blooms.
Sidmouth Club manager Grant Newton said: “We used to have a patch of mud with a laurel bush.
“Now we have a walled cottage-type garden with tubs of flowers, vegetables and shrubs, a trellis with climbers, a bird table and hanging baskets.
“Last week we all sat outside for the first time, admiring the plants, drinking tea and singing.”
Devizes Lions met most of the costs and Carl Bishop, head gardener at Broadleas Manor, gave advice.
