I am most disturbed by the letters of D G Savage, Susan Thomson and Jenny Atkins in your paper’s July 15 edition regarding the conduct, competence and integrity of NHS Wiltshire and some of its officers in their management and rundown of local health services at Savernake Hospital, Marlborough.
Normally, an independent public inquiry would be set up immediately to establish the facts, but I fear that this will not be done in this case because, under the new Government’s health services reorganisation, NHS Wiltshire PCT is due for closure on April 1 2011, when a GP consortium will take over the community health services.
