Pupils from Malmesbury schools will be opening the festival on Thursday night with a performance alongside the stars.
Among them are saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis, guitarist and composer Justin Adams, Gambian musician Juldeh Camara and Zanzibar-born singer songwriter Mim Suleiman.
Mrs Menter said the relationship between WOMAD and the schools was good for both the pupils and the artists.
She said: “We’ve been doing it for four years now and it has been a very important link for the festival.
“I know the schools absolutely love it as do we at the foundation.
“It’s also nice for the artists, many of whom only have time to fly in and fly out.
“Those able to spend a bit more time here get a chance to meet the community and get a feel for the place they are coming to.”
She added: “It’s also been good to forge links with parents who may not have thought about coming to a festival.
“Through the schools we have got to know a lot more people in Malmesbury.”
