International horse rider Lucinda Fredericks presented medals to youngsters at the Old School Nursery in Great Cheverell.
Olympic silver medallist Mrs Fredericks, who runs an equestrian training centre in nearby Little Cheverell with her husband Clayton, talked to the children and their parents about her horses and eventing.
She presented bronze, silver and gold medals to 60 children aged between three and five as part of the nursery’s Fun Fit Awards.
They learned skills including hopping, skipping, balancing items on themselves and aiming, throwing and catching. Rona Welham, manager of the nursery, said: “The awards taught the children basic skills for physical education and the children have been learning about healthy bodies throughout the term.
“Lucinda gave a fantastic talk. She was dressed in her riding gear and wore her medals. She brought a picture of her horse Headley Britannia and talked about eventing and how she gets horses across the world by air.”
Her partnership with the mare Headley Britannia has resulted in wins at Burghley, Badminton, Kentucky, plus a team silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong.
