Hundreds of bikers are set to cause a spectacle on Saturday when they ride through the grounds of Bowood House to end this year’s motorcycle meet.

The Rotary Club of Calne event is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and looks set to thrill bikers once again.

For the first time there will be a grand finale rideout through the grounds of Bowood House, where Lord Lansdowne has made the lawn available for bikes and riders to assemble, meet and be photographed from above.

Rotarian Mike Smith said: “We have never done this before and it was actually suggested by Lord Lansdowne that we use the grounds.

“It should make for some amazing aerial photographs of the bikes with the house in the background.

“We have not had a chance to do anything like that in previous events, so we are all looking forward to it.”

Blues and R&B band The Worried Men will take to the stage at 4.30pm.

Throughout the day there will be something for everyone to enjoy, from a Wadworth Brewery beer tent with one or two special brews, to trade stalls.

Mr Smith said: “We never know how many bikes will turn up because it is very weather dependant, but we have 20 clubs booked so we could see anything up to 4,500 like last year.

The first lot of bikes will ride in at around 10am and the rideout to Bowood will start at 4pm.
