The taste buds of those who attended the annual chilli cook off in All Cannings were tested to the limit by the dishes on offer.
A total of 15 chilli dishes were cooked during Saturday morning on portable barbecues in the car park of The Kings Arms pub and from noon members of the public paid £2 to taste as many of the dishes as they wanted.
The chillis had varying degrees of heat and the public voted on them.
All Cannings resident Geoff Baker won the prize for the hottest chilli but also made a less hot chilli.
The best dish was judged to be chilli meatballs cooked by villager Nigel Wallace while Max Hanney’s chocolate tasting chilli won the family friendly category.
The event is in its fifth year and Tim Daw, who started it, said: “There was a good variety of chillis featuring meat, fish and vegetables. We had a record turn out of cooks and about 100 spectators. It was a good village family event and it is going from strength to strength.”
The event has raised about £40 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal.
