A warm weather warning has gone out to householders trying to keep their homes cool on hot days, following a burglary in Great Bedwyn.

Thieves entered a house in Coster View through an unsecured door.

Sgt Ben Braine of Wiltshire Police said it was not known what had been taken.

Sgt Braine said the incident was a timely reminder to all householders to make sure that windows and doors were secure at all times even on the hottest summer days when people wanted to keep them open.

He said: “We would like to remind people that they should always keep security in mind and ensure that open windows and doors are not seen as an invitation to burglars who might happen to be in the vicinity.”
