The winners of the Gazette’s Baby of the Year competition have been chosen in a poll.

We published the entries of the three age categories on May 20 and voting has been heavy for babies aged 0-9 months, 9-18 months and 18-36 months.

Voters were able to make their choice by phone or text.

The winner of the youngest category is Evie Mai Marland of Bowerhill, Melksham.

The category for youngsters aged nine to 18 months was won by cheeky-faced 20-month-old Marti Wild from Brickley Lane, Devizes.

Marti, whose parents are hairdresser Natalie Barnes and businessman Martin Wild, is not the only one in her family to have baby show success.

Her nine-year-old brother, Deejay, won his age category in the Devizes Carnival baby show. Ms Barnes said: “Of course, that was a few years ago. I am delighted to hear that the carnival baby show is back. The baby show allows the judges to appreciate the children’s personalities as well.”

Winner of the oldest category is no stranger to the Gazette competition. Louis Bailey, from Spitalcroft Road, Devizes, who will be three in October, won the 9-18 month category last year.

His father, Christopher, a postman, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Louis has won again.”

Louis attends Bright Sparks pre-school in Potterne, where his mum, Marie, works.
