Peggy Stroud, 82, worked at Maslins, Wootton Bassett’s former large department store, once the main High Street retailer.
She was born in Clyffe Pypard, where she and her husband Don, who had begun courting in their teens, were married in 1948 in St Peter’s Church.
They lived in Wootton Bassett and moved to the then new Gough Cooper estate 43 years ago.
More recently, Mrs Stroud moved into care at Ridgeway House.
After taking time out to bring up their two children, Mrs Stroud returned to Maslins until 1978 when it closed.
Her funeral was held at St Bartholomew’s Church, Wootton Bassett, where she was a keen flower arranger. She is also remembered for her home-made cakes and the close family life she shared with her husband, daughter, son, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The service in church was followed by cremation at Kingsdown. Memorial.
