Children at the Somerfords’ Walter Powell School are eagerly spending their break times on a new timber trail unveiled last week.
It has been paid for by the Somerfords Home and School Association, helped by pupils and parents.
Teacher Lisa Shibley said children were eager to use the long-awaited equipment. “They all think it is fantastic,” she said.
“It is in so much demand, classes are taking turns to use it.”
To get the £5,000 needed, parents, teachers and pupils worked hard organising fundraising events.
Mrs Shibley said: “we had non-uniform days, cake stalls, plant sales and quiz nights.
“We’re an active school and keen to provide every opportunity for the children to get exercise.
“Although the equipment was installed by an outside company, parents and children helped out after school laying bark chippings and putting in the finishing touches.”
