Mum Sue Jenkins is appealing for the return of her youngest son’s bike, which was stolen on Friday.
Mrs Jenkins, who spends every day at Bristol’s Frenchay Hospital with her 17-year-old son Jay while he recovers from a brain injury, is devastated that someone would steal 12-year-old Harry’s bike.
The black and red bike was taken from outside the family’s home in Patchway, Chippenham, between 8.30pm and 11.30pm.
Mrs Jenkins said: “Harry is just gutted about this. He and his sister Lois have missed quite a lot of school with all that has gone on with Jay, but having the bike made sure Harry was getting to school every day.
“He has only had it for about two weeks. We just want someone to bring it back – even leave it outside the house at night so we don’t know who they are.”
The bike has a black frame with bright red pedals and handlebars, which have Hell Raiser written across them. It has thick Michelin tyres and a combination lock wrapped around the front.
Meanwhile the family is preparing for Jay to visit home for the first time since his collapse following a rugby match last March, and they hope he will be able to live with them full time within the next few months.
He will need 24-hour care and the family is seeking a team of nurses through a care agency. Mrs Jenkins said: “We want someone who will really enjoy working with Jay and become part of the family.”
