A stunning white carriage drawn by a matching pair of black horses stole the show at Pewsey Vale School Year 11 proms on Friday.

The annual ball for the students who leave Pewsey Vale, which has no sixth form, has become a contest to see who can find the most unusual mode of transport.

In previous years students have arrived on tractors and trailers and even in the buckets of mechanical diggers but this year the modes of transport were more orthodox.

The first vehicle to arrive at the school was a Lamborghini followed by a vintage Morris, a TVR Griffith sports car, a Land Rover Discovery, a VW Caravanette, Minis and a vintage Lagonda.

Other vehicles included a Suzuki GSX 800 motorbike, US Army Willy’s Jeep, a variety of stretched limousines and a Bentley.

But even a top of the range Rolls Royce and a stretch Hummer did not outdo the horse and carriage organised by lottery winner Mark Lund for his daughter Ashley and her friend Lauren Clarke who arrived in tiaras and looking like princesses for the night.

The carriage was not dissimilar to one that Katie Price (Jordan) had for her wedding to Peter Andre.

Even teacher Barbara Reeder, whose husband Mike runs a garage in Rushall, arrived in style, emerging in a ball gown from her husband’s red Ferrari 328GTB.
