Technology was banished for a day at Lavington School to save energy.
Instead of calculators, abacuses and slide rules were used in maths lessons and pens and paper replaced computers.
School lights were turned off while only cold food and drinks were served at breaks. Some pupils and staff cycled or walked to school.
Maths teacher Oliver Quantrill said: “We think we used about 75 per cent less energy on the day.”
