I could not believe what I was reading in James Gray’s column last week.
Thank goodness I am no longer one of his constituents! How dare he insult the members of the public he does represent with comments like “VAT at 20 per cent, bring it on!” and “25 per cent cuts in public services – no problem”. I am happy for you Mr Gray. You are obviously wealthy enough to have no problem in supporting your family while the rest of us try our best to make ends meet.
I am a public service worker and am faced with paying more for everything, a real term pay cut for the next two years and an attack on our pensions still on the horizon, and none of my colleagues are are saying “no problem” or are loving your party’s budget slashes to our public service.
I would like to end on a positive note, however. Mr Cameron has promised one fantastic policy – that of having the power to oust your local MP and I urge those unfortunate enough to still come under your constituency to use that power as soon as it becomes reality. Then again it probably won’t, just like the promise to not increase VAT!
