Two men from Calne were arrested when they were caught hiding in bushes preparing to inject themselves with heroin.
PC Hans Monahan and PCSOs Barry Mussard and Shelly Gray made the discovery at 2pm on Tuesday last week while on foot patrol in Castlefields Park.
The two men were arrested and taken to Melksham custody suite, where a 27-year-old man was charged with possessing heroin and another man, aged 34, was bailed until August 20.
PC Monahan said such behaviour would not be tolerated in Calne and warned that it could be upsetting, particularly for youngsters, if they came across it.
He said: “Castlefields Park is an area for people to enjoy for recreational and leisure purposes and part of the work of the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Calne is to ensure that it is a safe place to visit.
“This type of behaviour is highly anti-social and would be upsetting to anybody who came across it.
“People are likely to be very upset when they find discarded needles so the choice of using Castlefields Park as a place to use drugs is something that is not welcome at all.”
