A group of employees from the national charity Shaw Trust will be helping to build a vegetable garden for youngsters at St Nicholas School in Chippenham on Friday.

The nine workers will be volunteering as part of National Employee Volunteer Day and will help build the area for the children who have learning difficulties and disabilities.

It will have special features including raised beds and paving to enable easy access for all the children.

It is hoped the new garden will enable the children to grow and eventually cook their own food to teach them about healthy and sustainable living.

Shaw Trust project organiser Nicole Sedgley said: “As Shaw Trust develops and supports disadvantaged and disabled people who want to work, and has its national HQ in Chippenham, we want to help our local school where pupils face challenges close to our hearts.”

The team will build two raised vegetable beds by assembling wooden frames at different heights.

The team of volunteers will consist of Nicole Sedgley, Andy Fairs, Mike Marsh, Claire Western, Ingrid Coles, Paula Lye, Jeroen Stam, Michele Townley and Timothy Goodman.
