Students have spent a week showcasing their artistic talents at Pewsey Vale School and Arts College, which culminated in an exhibition of art, dance and drama in the school hall.
Headteacher Carol Grant praised the artistic skills of her students and dedication of their teachers and outside artists for bringing out the best in them.
The exhibition on Thursday was the highlight of a week of activities, which ranged from mosaics to drumming under the guidance of Alex Miles from the Kaya drumming group in Marlborough.
Mr Miles is also an arts graduate and he ran a graffiti-art workshop helping the students create their own work on canvas. He also led them in street dance.
Teacher Amy McGuinness led students from Years 7 to 9 in making paintings like those of the world-famous artist Jackson Pollock while teacher Barbara Reader helped students make their own dream catchers.
Other students were busy with bits of broken tile making mosaics to be displayed at the new children’s centre taking shape between the school and Pewsey Primary School.
Mrs Grant said: “I am very grateful to the many staff who have organised and supported this week’s activities. I was delighted to see nearly half of the student population on stage on Thursday – it was a fitting finale.”
