Primary school children are invited to an annual summer school in Devizes where the theme this year is ethnic music.

Devizes Music Summer School runs at Southbroom Junior School from July 26 to 30, from 10am to 4pm.

Parents and friends are invited to a concert at 7pm on the final day of the school which is open to children with or without musical experience aged eight to 11.

It involves orchestra, folk, percussion, ensemble, choir, composing/improvisation, concerts given by tutors and ‘try an instrument day’.

Organiser Gill Hutchings, of All Cannings, said: “The most important thing is that we have fun making all types of music together.”

The Nugee Trust is funding the equipment and Morrisons and Sainsbury’s are providing healthy snacks.

The week costs £40. For details, call Tim or Gill Hutchings on (01380) 860530.
