A group of friends from Malmesbury are preparing to tackle the pain barrier in aid of the Gazette and Herald’s Help For Heroes appeal.

Borough Arms landlord Lee Newman, along with Joe Hughes and Simon King, will be gritting their teeth as they get their legs waxed.

No strangers to the pain, the men braved it last year to raise hundreds of pounds for MacMillan Cancer Research.

Mr Newman said: “I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to it after last year, but at least I know what to expect.

“We decided to do it for Help For Heroes because it is a charity that people are getting behind at the moment and are very willing to support us.

“The lads and ladies out there in Afghanistan deserve all the help they can get.”

The pub will host live music during the evening at the pub in Oxford Street on Sunday, July 25.

Collection buckets will be out all day and the pub hopes that everyone will be very generous.

“We really want to push it as much as we can,” Mr Newman said.

“Hopefully we will raise a good amount.

“Although I’m dubious about the waxing, I know that it’s for a good cause.”
