ROBIN Cardwell is to leave Derry Hill after a decade as vicar to start a new job and get married.

For the past ten years Rev Cardwell, 53, has served the parishes of Derry Hill, Foxham and Bremhill and feels it is time for a change.

He has just been appointed vicar of Liddington with Wanborough, Hinton Parva and Bishopstone, just east of Swindon, and will be moving into the Bristol Diocese.

He will marry his fiancee Linda Kinder on November 4 and she will join him in Derry Hill Vicarage for two weeks before the couple go on a honeymoon to South Africa.

Rev Cardwell has three sons; Tom, 22 ,and Jon, 19, who are studying at university, and 14-year-old Tristan.

"When the time comes I will leave with a real sense of gratitude for all the support, encouragement, prayers and friendship everyone has given me and the boys.

"The parishes and people of this part of Wiltshire will always have a very special place in my heart," he said.
