POETRY is a family affair in the Moore household, with sisters Beatrice and Rachel each scooping a top prize in the Wiltshire Libraries' Poetry Competition.
Beatrice, seven, of Oak Road, Chippenham, won the four to six year age group with a poem called My Flower, and Rachel, eight, won the seven to nine age group with her poem Fish.
Parents Christine and Andrew Moore, and Anne, 11, also wrote poems for the competition, and only the youngest member of the family, Deborah, four, did not enter a poem of her own.
"We all enjoy reading poetry," said Mrs Moore.
"We do encourage the children to read a lot, and writing poems is something good to do in the summer holidays. We were quite amazed to find out Beatrice and Rachel had both won a class."
The girls, who attend Bybrook Primary School, are fans of JK Rowling's Harry Potter books, as well as Enid Blyton and Dick King Smith.
They collected their book token prizes and read their winning poems at a ceremony in Melksham Library.
