Budding Beckhams have been queuing up to join a Swindon five-a-side football team following appeals for players in the Evening Advertiser.
Croft Under-7s manager Becky Gammon was worried at the end of last season because departing players would leave the squad with just six players.
But following an appeal in the Adver's Neighbourhood News section and numerous reminders in the news in brief columns, the squad has mushroomed to 20 players.
"We've been inundated with calls and they still keep coming," said Becky, 20, who has played football since she was seven herself. "We want to say thank you to the Adver for its support, but we've got enough now."
The boys have had a promising start to the season, with a 10-1 win against Blunsdon and a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brunel Boys.
They play in the Swindon and District League, in which points are awarded for sportsmanship, not victory.
