BINGO, the Cairn terrier whose number was nearly up in a road accident, has bounced back to health and earned £100 on a sponsored walk - by mistake.
The cheeky dog joined a party of 600 walkers raising money for a cancer charity as they passed through land at his home at Knighton Wood Farm in Broad Chalke.
And while his owner Caroline Lamb thought he was safe at home he marched along for 16 miles to Badbury Rings before walkers were able to contact his family and tell them of his latest adventure.
"We were so impressed we collected sponsorship money for him afterwards - it came to £100," Mrs Lamb said.
Bingo's achievement is particularly impressive because three years ago he
was found badly injured on a road and not expected to live.
"He's got a four-inch metal plate in his leg," said Mrs Lamb. "But he was none the worse for his sponsored walk - he's surprisingly fit and goes for miles."
