WE would like the opportunity to correct the inaccurate information in Councillor Bennett's letter of October 5.
1. The planning application was not from Toby Sturgis but from a company called Moontron, of which he is neither a director nor a shareholder.
He declared an interest, as he had an interest in adjoining land, and left the meeting.
2. Lawrence Smith lives in the Great Somerford Ward and had previously been a member of the parish council.
He agreed to represent the parish views, who were agreeable in principle, in Mr Sturgis' absence.
3. John Thomson questioned the exact position of the physical limits in this area, in light of recent appeal decisions this was reported by the officers as being a planning consideration.
4. The planning officers approved the detailed design and materials and commented that this would preserve the conservation area.
The only reason for recommending refusal was the exact physical limit as to whether it should be a track across the site or a tall hedge 20 metres to the south of the disused scrap yard.
The officer's recommendation was based on his interpretation of one policy, and not several as portrayed by Mrs Bennett.
Mrs Bennett now admits that planning being dealt with at small area committees was wrong, and tries to justify her decision by publishing incorrect facts and making false accusations.
The truth is that five area committees dealing with planning has increased costs by thousands of pounds and led to greater delays in making decisions.

J THOMSON,
L SMITH
