I WAS deeply disappointed to see that the opening of Chippenham's Millennium Wall only merited half a page of last week's Gazette and Herald.
This was an imaginative and unique structure. The majority of people in Chippenham have been involved in some way with this project; children, parents, grandparents, charities, local and district councils and local businesses.
It has taken a lot of hard work, commitment and enthusiasm to turn the idea of the Wall into a reality.
I am disappointed that your article does not mention how so many local organisations worked together to help the children make the wall.
It did not mention us as the major funder of the wall, nor North Wiltshire District Council. which provided expertise in the form of Jack Konynenburg, as well as funding.
The town council also provided some funding.
About 4,000 children have made tiles. They have used their imagination and creativity and have looked forward to seeing the wall finished.
Can you imagine how proud both the children and their parents are when they see the child's work?
The Duchess of Gloucester spent a lot of time looking at the wall and chatting to the children.
The Mayor of Chippenham, the chairman of North Wiltshire District Council and local MP James Gray were among many people who turned out for this opening.
I feel, as do many others, that this occasion merited a lot more than one picture and a few words.
Even a rock and roll star who died 40 years ago had almost a full page of pictures.
