RADSTOCK fire station's open day to celebrate its 40th anniversary was a huge success.
Despite the bad weather, youngsters and their parents turned out for face painting, morning and afternoon demonstrations and to buy items from various fund-raising stalls in aid of the Firefighters' Benevolent Fund.
Firefighters showed the public how they would rescue a person stuck in a vehicle after a car accident. Children's favourite character, Fireman Sam also made an appearance.
At 4pm the auction of a child-sized firefighter's outfit fetched £40, the successful bidder being Mrs J Hancock from Radstock. It is estimated the day raised more than £800.
