GEMS of the baroque repertoire are on the programme when Bath Baroque gives an autumn concert at the Guildhall, Bath.
The concert opens with a perennial audience favourite: Winter, from The Seasons, by Vivaldi, performed on authentic period instruments.
The orchestra is joined by the Kingswood School Chamber Choir for the rest of the programme: three pieces from Vivaldi's magnificent Venetian Vespers Domine ad adjuvandum me, Beatus vir and Magnificat and Handel's Coronation Anthems, Zadok the Priest and The King Shall Rejoice.
The combination of inspiring music and the elegant surroundings of the Guildhall should prove an irresistible combination for an autumn evening.
Bath Baroque, formed in 1995, offers talented young musicians the chance to play alongside professionals in a large-scale period ensemble. Apart from its own regular performances, the orchestra has been involved in major events such as the Bath International Music Festival, and undertakes a wide range of chamber concerts.
The autumn concert on Saturday, October 14, starts at 7.30pm. Tickets at £10 (£9 concessions, £5 under-17s) are available from: Bath Baroque, Holmpatrick, Weston Road, Bath, BA1 2XU, telephone 01225 714775, fax 01249 714335, or e-mail: tickets@bathbaroque.com
