BLUE Circle Saints kept their 100 per cent record intact and remain top of the table after they defeated local rivals Westbury Rangers B 4-2 in the top game from Division Four of the Shoestrings sponsored Chippenham Sunday League.
Southwick Sports and Social Club remain in second spot after a convincing 6-1 win over bottom of the table North Star B.
Player-manager Carl Davies netted two, Alex Wysocki and Dan Alford added others before Davies substituted himself to bring on Jason Craddock, who immediately found the mark. In another stroke of genius, Davies introduced Adie Penny five minutes from time and he also netted to complete the Club's half dozen. Chris Long replied.
Goals from Matt Tracey, a fine individual effort from Mark Barnett and a double from Ian Ball earned Old Road Tavern a 4-0 win over Trowbridge Town Supporters' Club.
Sir Audley Arms beat Classic 8-0. John O'Meara (2), Steve Mallard (2), Adie White, Glen Timms, Keiron Smith and Ian Dover shared the goals for an Arms' side who received praise from Classic for the sporting manner in which they played the game. Match referee Mark Sammut also had a fine game.
Peter Black moved up the table and into third place following a 3-0 win over Colerne B.
Corsham Park Rangers and Bradstone Rovers drew 4-4. Rovers opened the scoring with an own goal in the second minute and Alan Eades made it 2-0 when he fired home in the 17th minute.
Rangers then went 4-2 in front, through a hat-trick from Luke Wolf and a 55th minute penalty from Paul Park, but not for the first time this season Rangers threw away a two goal advantage and had to settle for a point after Ryan Kelleher scored in the 85th minute and Eades added his second of the game in the 89th minute to earn Rovers a deserved share of the spoils.
Premier Division
WITH Westbury Rangers A unable to raise a side for their visit to the Royal Oak, the Dog and Fox Ashley took full advantage of the situation and returned to the top of the division after they defeated local Bradford rivals Avon News 6-0.
Box remain unbeaten after they recorded a 5-1 win over Neston 81, who found themselves three goals down after only five minutes.
Starting the game with only 10 players, Neston were undone by early goals from Andy Wileman (2) and Darren Wileman. Adam Crook and James Lye completed the quintet. Martin Ford netted Neston's consolation.
Packhorse and Corsham Centre United were involved in an eight goal encounter which saw the former win 5-3. Alex Whitehall led the scoring for the Packhorse with four spectacular long range strikes and Steve Richardson completed the nap hand. Pete Long came close to adding a sixth for The Packhorse. His effort from the halfway line looked to be heading for the top corner of the net until it was scrambled to safety by United goalkeeper Mason. Martin Blackman, Lee Fuller and Trevor Newman (penalty) were United's scorers.
Malmesbury Town were unable to raise a side for their match with Cooper Avon Rangers, who to date have only managed to play one league game.
Division One
THE George Lacock and North Star A were involved in a 10 goal thriller which saw the points shared.
Despite taking a 2-1 advantage through a Les Davies double, The George went in at half-time trailing 5-2 through goals from Andy Giles, Steve Baker, Kevin Saunders, Tommy Ludford and Chris Hehir. Davies added two further goals before The George secured their point with a Richard Nash equaliser in injury time.
Atworth United started their match against All Cannings with 10 players and paid a heavy price, losing 9-1. Martin Baker (4), Richard Mansell (2), Nigel Hiscocks, Nick Oram and a 25-yard effort from substitute Stuart Bevan completed Cannings' romp. Chris White replied.
Chippenham Police and Hullavington shared eight goals and the points in a 4-4 draw. Mark Simpson (2) and Stuart Johnson, with an excellent lob from the edge of the area, had given the Police a 3-0 advantage against a 10-men Hullavington side who amazingly turned the game around to lead 4-3 with goals from Alistair Reed, Colin Just, Andy Martin (penalty) and a scorcher from Ryan Woodland.
Steve Lever earned The Police their point when he grabbed a late equaliser.
Match referee Phil Miles heaped special praise on both sides for the sporting manner in which they played the game.
Bromham followed up last week's first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Gladstone Liberal Club. Richard Dyke (2), Danny Powell (2) and Tom Paget (penalty) were Bromham's marksman. Darren Legg and John Freegard replied. Bromham would have reached a half dozen had Steve Peck not missed an open goal from six yards out. Match referee Matthew Rushton had an excellent game.
Pilot remain unbeaten and three points clear at the top after defeating Colerne 3-1. Mark James opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Jamie Bowler levelled. James increased Pilot's lead before substitute Jeremy Thompson netted to secure both points for the Pilot.
Credit goes to both sides who agreed to play after Maud Heath Sports were unable to field a side against Colerne and Pilot's original game with Trowbridge Town Youth was postponed due to the Youth's involvement in the Wiltshire County Youth Cup, where a hat-trick for Tom Pang and a single from Scott Askew saw them defeat Bemerton Heath Harlequins Youth 4-2.
Division Two
IT was all change at the top after shock defeats for West Lavington and Westbridge United allowed Trowbridge Harriers to claim pole position by defeating Sutton Benger 5-1.
John Hubbard (3) and Paul Edwards (2) bagged Harr Harrier' goals and Benger's reply was an own goal.
West End Wanderers knocked West Lavington off the top and moved off the bottom themselves after they recorded a 5-3 victory against an out of sorts Lavington side. Tom Staddon (3), Wayne Bailey and Martin Salter found the mark for the Wanderers. Simon Drewitt, Kevin Bush and Tom Ponting were Lavington's marksmen.
Wanderers' victory also saw them pick up the team of the week award.
A below par performance from Westbridge saw them suffer a 3-2 defeat at home to Terry's FC.
Goals from Geoff Hale and Shane Thorton were not enough to save Cooper Avon from defeat against Potley United. Liam Healy (3), Steve Healy (2) and Shaun House all scored in Potley's 6-2 win.
Division Three
LEADERS Old Lane United tumbled from the summit after losing 5-2 at home to Chippenham Black Horse.
Despite a brace from Mark McIntyre, United suffered their first defeat of the season. With Marcus Young, Rob Hickman and Mark Baldwin suspended from the Old Lane, Chippenham Black Horse took full advantage, with Darren Wishton (2), Tim Hughes, Carlos Sgroi and Richard Thorne, with a 35-yard free kick, scoring for the winners.
Miller Sports moved to the top of the pile after first half goals from Tim Knight (3) and Martin Crook saw them to a 4-0 win away to St Jude's.
Christian Malford remain third despite losing 4-2 to a Rowde side who played the whole of the game with 10 players and for a period with nine. Alan Creasey and Scott Evans netted for Malford. Stuart Buckland and James Webb drew Rowde level before Clive Hayward was dismissed. Martin Kennedy then made things worse for Rowde when he missed a 40th minute penalty after Malford's goalkeeper had upended a Rowde player.
Things picked up in the second period thanks to Martin Williams and Luke Smith, who scored the goals that earned Rowde two valuable points.
Hare and Hounds had to include 54-year-old Phil Rose in the starting line up against Semington Rovers for the first time this season when two of their squad failed to show. Danny Phillips opened the scoring for the Rovers before Gary Wootton drew the Hounds level. Phillips restored Rovers' slender lead only for Nick Mooney to tie the scores again. The Hounds eventually ran out of steam midway through the second period which allowed Rovers to surge on and add further goals. Stuart Barber (3), Kelvin Lockwood and Wesley Bray completed the scoring.
Farmhouse are continuing their climb up the table after defeating Malmesbury Victoria 4-2. Mark Sheppard, Mark Townsend, Derek Pow and Lee Hayward shared the winners' goals. Alan Banks and Steve Francis netted for Malmesbury. Farmhouse goalkeeper Adam Sheppard saved a Pete Brock penalty when the score was 3-2.
Former Premier Division players Russell Francis and Robin Walker led the Plough to their 6-1 win over Biddestone Social Club. Former Avon News front man Francis hit four goals and former Winsley player Walker netted two. John Lock replied for Biddestone. Match referee Lee Johnson received special praise for his handling of the game.
This Sunday sees the preliminary round of the Rainbow Launderette sponsored WG Parr Trophy.
This Sunday's match of the day is the Second Division clash between Terry's FC and West Lavington, to be played at John of Gaunt School, Trowbridge, kick-off 10.45am.
