TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE

BRADFORD United opened their account in Division One of the Trowbridge League (sponsored by Just Signs Trowbridge) with a 10-0 demolition of West Lavington.

Steve Morris opened the floodgates after just 42 seconds. Further goals followed from Jason Uncles (4), Mark James, Simon Harvey, Damien Fricker, John Williams and Nick Cottrell.

Leaders Broughton Gifford won 4-0 at Melksham Town A.

Chris King, Simon Lunt (penalty) and Chris Stiles scored in the first half, with Ryan Dennison completing the scoring after the break.

Ben Richards gave Bradford Town Reserves a 1-0 interval lead at the Deverills. Brett Ball equalised for the home side, but sloppy defending allowed Dan Cottrell (2) and Russell Whatley to given Town a commanding lead.

Darren Munro pulled a goal back with the last kick of the game.

Seend United led visitors Bratton 3-1, with goals from Mark Newman, Dave Jenkins and Nathan Clark, but a superb hat-trick from Mark Lanfear earned Bratton a point.

In Division Two, Broughton Gifford Reserves continue to dominate. Richard Moules gave them a 1-0 lead on the stroke of half-time against Hilperton.

Despite the valiant display by Hilperton goalkeeper Mark Binks, Broughton scored four times after the break, through Chris Braine, Joe Symes, Nick Bush and Moules again.

Leigh Ovens scored Hilperton's consolation with a header.

Lavington and Easterton twice came back to equalise through Mark Jordan and Rob Jenks against high-flying Setyres.

The visitors took control in the second half with goals from Mark Powell (4), Dominic Sims (2) and Mike Spong.

Dave Beswick gave Division Three newcomers Bromham Reserves a 1-0 lead at Hilperton Reserves.

Beswick scored again in the second half, but the home side were saved by Paul Davis, who scored twice, with a 40-yard free-kick and a penalty.

Westbury United A lost at home for the second time, by a single goal, to Deverills Reserves.

In a preliminary round A and B Cup replay (sponsored by Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories), Frome Sportshouse caused an upset by putting out Division One Calne Town Social Club

Dean Slade put Calne ahead, but Stewart Bryant scored twice to give Frome an interval lead.

Damien Mead (2), Paul Dean and Lee Rudge added further goals to put the result beyond doubt.

Black Horse Devizes face expulsion from the knockout cup (sponsored by Reflections Niteclub Westbury) after they failed to appear for their first-round tie at Castle Combe West End.
