FORMER Corsham Town manager Peter Tripp goes head-to-head with Wiltshire football legend Don Rogers tonight.
Tripp and Rogers, who led Swindon Town to glory in the 1969 League Cup final, are the two names on the shortlist for the manager's job at Pewsey Vale, where Steve Wootton is standing down after the weekend's 11-0 home drubbing by Exmouth Town.
The pair will be interviewed by members of the Screwfix Direct League First Division club's committee and a decision announced tomorrow.
Tripp, whose brother Nigel is player-manager at Westbury United, led Corsham to promotion from the Wiltshire League three years ago, but stood down last summer after just one season in charge at Screwfix League level.
Tripp said yesterday: "On the face of it people might ask why I'm bothering to go along for the interview, but I believe I could do a good job for Pewsey.
"I've got nothing against Don Rogers, but he's probably used to working at clubs with a little bit of money, while at Corsham I didn't have any money at all.
"Pewsey will have to decide whether they want a 'big name' as their manager or someone who is used to working at this level of football."
He added: "The first job at Pewsey is to keep them in the league this season. After that it will be a matter of building the club up slowly, something I achieved at Corsham. It's a challenge I'd like to take up."
Pewsey have been going through a bad patch.
In their first eight league games this season they have managed only one point nd were recently suspended from playing because of problems with the club's administration.
