A WRESTLING extravaganza in Trowbridge has been cancelled for safety reasons.
The PWA/Mega Promotions event was set for October 27 in the Civic Hall but West Wiltshire District Council was forced to pull the plug.
David Bardwell, the district's chief environmental officer, said a regulation of the public entertainments licence was that a paramedic or doctor should be on site.
Wrestling promoter Mad Eli had organised Red Cross cover for the night.
Mr Bardwell said: "The conditions on the licence are set nationally. A paramedic or doctor must be on site. If Mr Eli can show a Red Cross official is trained to that standard then the event can go ahead."
"I apologise to all those fans. The event was more or less sold out but hopefully we can re-organise," said Mad Eli, who said he had no choice but to cancel.
