HUNDREDS of people packed the streets of Westbury to wish loving family man Andrew Wheeler a final goodbye.

The funeral service for Mr Wheeler, 35, of Oldfield Road, was held at All Saints Church, with a private family service at Semington Crematorium.

Mr Wheeler was killed two weeks ago in an accident near Hawkeridge, when his Vauxhall Cavalier hit a lorry.

More than 200 friends joined Mr Wheeler's widow Janet and his four step-children Darren, 23, Sharlene, 21, Dean, 19 and Wayne, 17, at the church service.

His coffin was carried in to Robbie Williams's Angels and left the church to a song performed by his favourite football team, Manchester United.

Mr Wheeler's uncle, Richard Tugwell, 55, of Oldfield Park, said: "It was unbelievable and the church was packed, all the aisles were filled up.

"It was very moving and touching for the family. I spoke about his life and how much his mother loved him.

"I have known him for 15 years, he was such a character in the town. t was also a good evening and a wonderful celebration of his life."

Crowds thronged to the Angel Hotel in Church Street after the funeral.

Landlady Charlie Barnet, who has been running the hotel with her partner Colsey for the last four months, said: "It was absolutely heaving and I have never known it like that before.

"It was a real good send-off for Andrew. He came in a couple of times but he was more of a family man, he was a good friend."

Flowers have been mounting up at the crash site near the West Wiltshire Trading Estate, with Manchester United shirts and an Action Man among the tributes left.
