YOUNG people are continuing to cause trouble in Melksham.
A gang of up to 20 young people gathered in Kingsbury Square on Saturday night and police had a number of reports to say the gang was intimidating passers by.
Latest vandalism and nuisance incidents include damage to telephone boxes and bus shelters.
PC Anne Morris said people living in the Forest and Queensway area had reported young people throwing eggs at people, cars and buildings on Monday and Tuesday evening (October 9 and 10).
Sgt Alan Strike, of Melksham police, said the young people were not actually breaking the law.
"It is more a case of causing a nuisance or just by the sheer size of the gang they intimidate people. Unless they are breaking the law our hands are tied," he said.
Mayor of Melksham Cllr Vic Oakman said he wanted to see more action being taken.
"There should be no tolerance of these young people," he said.
