I was impressed by the picture in 48 Hours of Regent Street, taken in 1914.
How calm and leisurely it looked, and how different from our over crowded streets of today.
One thing I specifically noticed, there were two policemen walking in the street, and crime then was almost non-existent.
Where are the police today? Not walking down the street. They just fly by in their police cars, they can't see much like that.
I believe it is called progress, but I much preferred the time when one could walk down the street without fear of being mugged.
