SONGS from the musical Mack and Mabel rang out in Swindon town centre when performers took to the streets to promote their forthcoming show.
Members of Swindon Amateur Light Operatic Society gathered outside Debenhams in The Parade to belt out a string of hits from the show which starts at the Wyvern Theatre on Thursday.
It tells the story of American director Mack Sennett, his rise to fame and his love affair with Mabel Norman.
Society spokesman Adrian Davis said the play reveals an alternative vision of Hollywood.
"Unlike a lot of musicals you get to see the unpleasant side of Hollywood that people forget. It's a brilliant play and we have a great cast."
The show, which will run until Saturday October 28, stars 40 of the society's 70 members.
Tickets cost £10, £6 for concessions. There will be performances every day except Sunday at 7.30pm with 2.30pm matinees on the Saturdays. For details call Swindon 852711.
