Hellenic Round-up: Swindon Supermarine just three points behind neighbours Highworth Town with two games in hand notched up their tenth win on the trot when they defeated visitors Carterton Town by 3-0.
A stunning first 45 minutes by the South Marston side put the result beyond doubt as their front runners had the Carterton defence all at sea.
In the first quarter of the game Michael Silvanus was just foiled after breaking down the left flank. Richard Hadgkiss missed a great chance and Neil Matthews saw his goal bound header cleared off the line.
Supermarine took a deserved lead on 20 minutes when their young striker Matt Saye cut through beat the Carterton offside trap but was brought down by the visitors keeper who escaped with a yellow card.
From the resulting free kick Tom Jones bent a brilliant free kick around the Carterton wall to open the scoring.
Two goals in five minutes from Supermarine centre back Pete Farrow both identical far post headers from corner kicks enabled the South Marston side to go in at the break with a three-goal lead.
However, Carterton's Phil Rodney had a great chance to pull a goal back minutes before the interval.
In a goalless second half they were a few scares at both ends as Carterton pushed forward looking to pull a goal back and Supermarine defending cutting the visitors on the break.
Delighted Supermarine boss Alan Dyton said: "I thought we were superb we played some good stuff against a good Carterton side who never gave up."
Highworth Town, after their 4-1 midweek reverse at Didcot, had a few anxious moments in the first 45 minutes at Milton but recovered to stage a second half rally and run out winners by 5-1.
Milton shocked the league leaders by taking the lead on 22 minutes when keeper Anthony Betterton dropped a harmless looking cross into the area and Jamie Evered was on hand to poke the lose ball into the net.
The goal rocked the Wiltshire side who came under pressure and were lucky to go in at the break only one goal adrift.
Highworth manager Gary Goodwin had a few choice words to say to his side during the interval and with sub Nicky Hughes coming on soon after the start Highworth looked a different side.
Justin Miller equalised on 63 minutes after being put through by a good ball from Hughes. Peter Moss added a second on 73 minutes with a good individual goal.
Keith Walker headed in a third from a corner on 80 minutes and Jon Reeves rifled in a fourth from the edge of the box four minutes later.
Peter Moss rounded off the scoring in the last minute to give his side a slightly flattering 5-1 victory.
In Division One, Malmesbury Vics, at home to Clanfield, were beaten 5-2. Danny Beck scoring on the half hour to give the Vics the lead.
In a hectic seven minutes before the break Wright, Alcroft and Barrett netted for Clanfield and Gareth Walsh converted a penalty for the side.
In the last five minutes of the game Barrett and Cross struck for Clanfield to make sure of victory.
