Fairford Town 1, North Leigh 2: Premier Division's Fairford Town's impressive run came to an end when they were beaten at home by North Leigh 2-1.
It was only the fourth defeat of the season for the Cinder Lane side who are currently in fifth spot in the table with 18 points.
Fairford made a lively start in the opening 10 minutes but disaster struck four minutes later when Mark Saunders, while attempting to clear a cross from the right, miscued and the ball fell to Timms.
He made no mistake from close rangeto put the visitors into the ascendancy.
The home side seem to lose their way after the reverse and passes were going astray regularly enabling the visitors to keep their lead untroubled until the break.
After the interval Gareth Davies had a good chance to equalise for Fairford and they began to push forward.
However, another defensive mistake cost them dear on 74 minutes when Carl Stevenson was caught in possession in his own penalty area and Hughes nipped in to score a second.
Fairford fought back and reduced the arrears in the 82nd minute when Paul Johnson headed into the net from a corner.
North Leigh defended well in the closing stages of the home side looked for an equaliser but they never really looked like conceding another goal.
Fairford boss Mark Webb was disappointed with his sides defeat.
"I couldn't fault the lads for their effort but several of the players performed well below par.
"We have been setting quite a high standard and this was a setback for us.
"All the players are disappointed but we will just have to bounce back on Tuesday evening, when we are home to Tuffley Rovers in the first round of the Gloucester Senior Trophy.
