HAVING read the headlines on the front of Thursday's edition of the Advertiser, I eagerly opened it hoping to read about a bold new public transport system, perhaps like Manchester's Metro, which would allow commuters like myself from Swindon's satellite towns such as Marlborough, Calne, Wootton Bassett and Wroughton to leave our cars at home and be whisked cheaply and reliably into Swindon in an eco-friendly manner.
What a disappointment to read the actual plans inside!
With limited ambitions like the proposed tram system, Swindon deserves to remain what it is a tatty, characterless town of the mid 20th century and not a city for the 21st.
