MY name is Joe Inglis (of the BBC television programme Vets in Practice) and I am writing to ask readers to sign up for a charity event with a big difference.

I am looking for 100 daredevils to join a fantastic skiing event in aid of Scope (formerly The Spastics Society).

This incredible marathon ski challenge takes place March 9-12, 2001. If you want to ski 24 Austrian peaks, ski one of the longest runs in the world with a vertical drop of over 1500 metres, ski over 130km of top class piste and all in under 48 hours, then this is the challenge for you.

I took part in this unique event in 1999 and 2000 because I liked the idea of a challenge and to raise money for Scope.

The event is fast and furious and the standard if skiing is the highest I've ever experienced.

Places are limited, so if you are a competent "red run skier" or have a minimum of eight weeks snowboarding experience and like a challenge, call 0800 0191 200 for an information pack.

You then need to raise £1200 for children and adults with cerebral palsy. In return all flights, skis, accommodation and guides are provided.
