A ROBBER wielding a meat cleaver stole the night's takings of an Old Town takeaway.
Two workers of Domino's Pizza were threatened when they tried to deposit their cash bag at a bank. Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery or who has found the cash bag to contact them.
Acting Det Sgt Kier Pritchard of Swindon CID said: "The two men were in the process of depositing the cash in the night safe at HSBC bank when they were robbed of the night's takings. To enforce his threat the attacker used a large knife, possibly a meat cleaver.
"He stole a considerable amount of cash and cheques, all contained in a white HSBC deposit bag."
The attack happened outside the bank in High Street, Old Town, at 2.10am on Monday, October 16. After stealing the cash the robber made off across Dammas Lane car park towards Lawn.
He is described as white, approximately 19-years-old, 5ft 10in tall and of a slim, athletic build. He was wearing a black-hooded tracksuit top, black jogging bottoms and white trainers.
ADS Pritchard said: "The attacker will be in possession of a considerable amount of cash so if anyone sees someone they know with a lot of money in the next few days, please contact us so we can speak to these people."
Police officers are also looking for the Fastbank night safe deposit bag which measured 12in by 8in, as well as any witnesses to the attack.
