SWINDON Town legend Don Rogers has taken over the managerial reins at Screwfix Division One basement boys Pewsey Vale.
The wing wizard has been associated with the club for nearly 20 years and he will have to call on all his 40-year experience in the game to arrest their alarming slide.
The Vale have just one point from 11 league games and recently lost 11-0 at home to Exmouth.
The 1969 Wembley hero is aiming to stave off relegation this season and push for the title next year.
"The chairman of this club has big ideas," said Don. "And so have I. I am looking forward to next year already.
"There is a lot of potential here that is the reason I took the job. I am going to try to make things happen here, and if I fail, it won't be through lack of trying." The man who left Bob Wilson sprawling takes his first training session tonight (Wednesday, October 18).
His return to club football came a little earlier than he expected when Pewsey's manager Stephen Wootton and assistant Russell Goodenough both stood down.
Don, who has managed Lambourn and Supermarine and still runs Wembley-winning Hungerford veterans, said:
"I always wanted to get back into management."
