A Community training audit is being undertaken in the Parks and Walcot area.
It aims to identify the training requirements of volunteers who work within 30 different community groups and organisations throughout the area and is being undertaken by East Swindon Community Development worker, Bob Johnson.
He hopes that it will lead to a better understanding of volunteers' needs.
Bob said "There are hundreds of volunteers working within Parks and Walcot, giving their time to provide other community members with much-needed facilities, such as family centres, support groups, playgroups and youth groups. Without them, many local people of all ages would not get the support, help or social amenities which they enjoy at present".
So that volunteers feel better able to cope, as well as being valued for what they do, the East Swindon Community Education Team is looking to identify the support and training community groups and their volunteers require, in a wide range of community subjects.
