DISABLED riders will be kitted out in new jodphurs thanks to a £420 grant to Chippenham Riding for the Disabled.
A dozen pairs of jodphurs, each costing £35, should help mentally and physically disabled riders enjoy their ride with greater comfort and safety.
North Wiltshire District Council's Chippenham area committee decided last week to meet the request for the grant.
Organiser Sarah Creed said: "Riding helps stimulate our clients both mentally and physically. It gives them great satisfaction to help with the horses, and broadens their horizons by being in such a different environment."
The Chippenham Gateway Club also received a grant of £200 to help provide social and leisure events for adults with learning difficulties.
The club has more than 90 members, and last year started a weekly sports evening at Hardenhuish School.
The St Giles Living Churchyard Project at Stanton St Quinton was awarded £200, and the Yatton Keynell Luncheon Club got £100 towards a day trip for pensioners.
An application for funding for the Chippenham Veterans was deferred for extra information.
The Chippenham area committee has a budget of £6,650 this year to make small grants to local individuals and organisations.
