SWANSEA was certainly not one of the nicest places to watch football. The fans were rather boisterous and the press facilities were hardly salubrious as we sat among the rowdy rabble. However, it was not the crowd that I had the most trouble with, it was the Welsh media. Apparently we had sat in someone's seat and when there was no more room a couple of home journalists started to moan at us. It was not until later that someone pointed out to me that the guy having a pop was Leighton James, the former Welsh striker. Sorry, mate!
THE two recent fixtures have hardly been an enjoyable experience for anyone. Long journeys, wet weather and no goals have not really given our supporters anything to cheer. However, you have been a credit to the club and I feel sure your commitment will soon be rewarded.
AT least the fans and us media can race back to Swindon under our own steam. The players often make it back hours later as they travel by team coach. Some of them try to sleep, but it is not always easy. Antoine van der Linden was just dropping off on Wednesday morning when Colin Todd decided he wanted to listen to Radio Two. The defender asked Andy King if the radio could be turned off because it had woken him. Mr Todd turned it up.
I MUST say a big thank you to Town legend Don Rogers. The Don, who owns a sports shop in Faringdon Road, has provided us with a new footy strip for the Evening Advertiser team and it obviously has his magic touch. We won 6-0 against a newspaper in Hereford on Sunday. Next we face the Swindon Town Cyber Robins at Maunsell Way, Wroughton on Saturday at 10.30am.
