SINISTER mummies, ghosts and a palace that flies to Egypt are all part of the entertainment promised by Sherston Drama Group in its upcoming autumn pantomime of Aladdin.
The group's publicity officer, Irene Johnston, said: "We wanted to do a traditional family pantomime and Aladdin has always proved very popular. We last did Aladdin about 15 years ago.
"This year's production is well-rehearsed and full of enthusiastic youngsters, spectacular costumes and good scenery. And it's very funny."
The cast of 30 includes players from the troupe's senior and junior sections. The pantomime is directed by Richard Warren, and the role of Aladdin will be played by 15-year-old Jenny Wilde.
The pantomime's lavish costumes were made by Sherston residents Maggie Instrell and Lesley Tarrant.
Mrs Johnston said the play would take place in Sherston Village Hall from from next Wednesday to Saturday. Evening performances start at 7.30pm while Saturday's matinee performance kicks off at 3pm. Tickets cost between £3 and £5.
Mrs Johnston said: "We will be performing in front of packed houses if past experience is anything to go by."
Tickets are available from John Venning on (01666) 840915 or Sherston Post Office.
