PROPOSALS aimed at securing the future of Savernake Hospital will come under scrutiny at what is expected to be a packed meeting in Marlborough Town Hall on Tuesday.

Both floors of the town hall have been booked for the 7.30pm meeting which has been called by the Savernake Hospital Inquiry Fund Trust to allow public debate on the proposals.

Ideas under consideration include retaining the out-patient department and minor injuries unit; integrating primary care and community care services an providing better rehabilitation services.

Some other suggestions are providing a 35-bed residential care unit to help reduce hospital bed blocking; retaining the diagnostic and X-ray unit and augmenting it by building in computer links to take advantage of new technology.
