KIND-HEARTED Rebekah Ellerby is organising her own fundraising event to help build a well in northern Albania.
Seven-year-old Rebekah, of Urchfont, last year raised £1,250 for Kosovar refugees with a sale and she is now organising a Christmas fair on November 4 at the village hall from 2 to 4pm.
She and her friends have been making items such as gift cards, Christmas tags, necklaces and decorated glasswork.
Craftspeople will be displaying their wares and Rebekah has persuaded local businesses to offer prizes for a raffle.
Money raised from the fair will go to the Patney-based International Community Assist's appeal to raise £5,000 to bore a well to serve up to 800 people in the hamlet of Jarin.
People now have to walk three miles each day to fetch water.
Rebekah's family already sponsor Neta Uldedaj, nine, and her family in Jarin, and Rebekah and Neta are pen pals. Rebekah said: "I want to help with the well because the people have to walk miles and miles for water. If they had water in the village they would have water to drink and they could keep cows."
David James, director of International Community Assist, said: "We are very appreciative of Rebekah and her friends' efforts to raise money."
Anyone who would like to donate goods for the Christmas fair can ring the Ellerby family on (01380) 840341.
