Speeding drivers on the notorious A419 are being targeted by police officers with radar guns.
From today until Christmas police officers are cracking down on those who break the speed limit on the road which has claimed three lives in the last three months.
Roadworks are currently being carried out near Blunsdon and the maximum speed is 40mph, but some drivers have been caught travelling at twice the limit.
In August Kelly Mason, 22, died from head and chest injuries after her car was in collision with another at the Castle Eaton junction of the A419. The same month Trevor Cuss, 39, from Cricklade, was killed when he was cycling near Blunsdon. His bicycle was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry.
And nine days ago 25-year-old Gary Lees was killed when his motorcycle was in an accident with two cars near Cricklade.
Earlier this year the Government's Highways Agency commissioned a survey of the A419 by engineering consultants WSP.
The conclusions should be released by the end of the year.
