MORE jobs fairs will be held in Devizes following the success of one held at the Corn Exchange this month.
The event was organised by Devizes Jobcentre and featured 22 local employers who were offering temporary Christmas jobs as well as permanent positions.
Jobcentre manager Janey Thomas said: "It was very successful. We had around 310 people through the door and more than 290 had positive contacts with the employers which means they either took an application form or they applied for work there and then.
"It's the first jobs fair we have had for a very long time in Devizes.
"All the employers were extremely pleased with the day and the quality of the candidates. We had people of all ages and they ranged from employed people to unemployed people.
"We were delighted with how many people came along and we will be aiming to hold jobs fairs on a regular basis. We intend to hold another one in the New Year, probably in Marlborough."
Among the firms represented were Hayden Bakeries, which employs 350 people at its Hopton Industrial Estate site, and human resources manager, Hilary Drewer-Trump, said: "It was extremely successful as far as we are concerned. We handed out between 50 and 60 application forms and about half have been returned."
